Stean’s Beans

In early 2023, Stean's Beans joined Schinkel District, marking a significant milestone in its journey. Stean Fasol, originally hailing from Kenya, kick-started this small coffee venture in his Amsterdam apartment back in 2015. Using a bicycle for deliveries, the brand slowly gained recognition for its ethically sourced, top-quality beans, forming partnerships with renowned bars, restaurants, and coffee spots across Amsterdam.

Stean's Beans now extends its services to entrepreneurs and offices in the Schinkel District. The team offers a comprehensive B2B coffee service, including freshly roasted specialty coffees, coffee machine maintenance, and even barista courses to ensure a perfect brew. Furthermore, their commitment to eco-friendliness is evident through their e-bike delivery service, aligning with their overarching mission to enhance sustainability and transparency throughout the coffee production process.

Jimmy Nelson

Meet Jimmy Nelson, one of the founding members of Schinkel District since 2017. Recently, he expanded his creative space, blending a creative office and art gallery, opened only for future book launches. Born in 1967, Jimmy has been globetrotting since his youth, capturing indigenous cultures with deep respect and humility. In 2013, he published his first book 'Before They Pass Away' which turned his lifelong dream of raising awareness about the unimaginable diversity in the world into reality. In 2018, he published 'Homage to Humanity' for which he visited twenty-five communities and even returned to some to present the book to them. His latest book, 'Between the Sea and the Sky' (2022), was dedicated to the diversity of cultures exclusively within the Netherlands.

Giving cultures the positive platform they deserve moves him and his team. They believe that by showing the world the beauty and importance of culture, people can understand and cherish humanity's heritage. Their mission is to create an iconic document of traditional cultures and leave a visual legacy for current and future generations that will stand the test of time.
